The Pelican Lake Association (PLAW) is a charitable organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the waters of Pelican Lake, Wisconsin, through a variety of activities and community efforts.
The work of the Pelican Lake Association is made possible through the memberships, donations, and volunteer efforts of people who live on and around the lake, along with family, friends, and neighbors who share our passion.
Together, we’re working to protect Pelican Lake today- and for generations to come.

Keeping Invasive Species Out
Trained inspectors checked 3,296 boats at the landings in 2025, backed by two camera systems running from May to October. We also mechanically harvest Eurasian watermilfoil each season to help keep navigation lanes open and our lake accessible.
Marking the Hazards
Buoys are a critical component of boating safety, especially on Pelican Lake with its numerous rock piles. For decades the towns paid to place and remove them. When one town’s funding fell away, members voted to take on the whole program.
Looking After the Fishery
The DNR rates Pelican Lake’s fishery above average, and members work alongside its biologists on surveys, muskie tagging and habitat. Regulations here are specific to this water — worth reading before you fish it.

Members approved a restricted buoy fund capped at $30,000 at the Annual Membership Meeting, completing the association’s takeover of hazard buoy funding from the two towns.
