The Pelican Lake Association is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Every director is a dues-paying member of the Association. The bylaws provide for three to nine directors, who serve staggered two-year terms to provide continuity and experience from year to year. All directors serve as volunteers and receive no compensation. Our nine-member board is currently at its full capacity, with directors serving up to three consecutive terms before a required two-year break.
Officers
The bylaws name four principal officers, elected by the board from among the directors. Every officer is also a director, which keeps the chain of accountability short. Officers are elected each year at the first board meeting following the Annual Membership Meeting; the terms shown below are the terms of their seats on the board.

Open & Transparent
PLA board meetings are open to members who wish to attend and observe. Members are welcome to share questions and comments during the Member Comment period or when invited by the chair. Any matter raised during Member Comment that is not resolved at the meeting is added to the next meeting’s agenda for follow-up.
In limited circumstances, the board may meet in closed session to discuss matters such as competitive contracts, personnel, misconduct, or litigation. Confidential minutes are maintained when required.
In keeping with our commitment to transparency, meeting agendas are posted in advance and minutes—including draft minutes—are made available following each meeting.
Get Involved!
Have a question, concern, or idea? Want to lend a hand? Contact PLA and your message will be directed to the right person.
Interested in Serving on the Board?
Board members are elected by the membership at the Annual Membership Meeting, with each paid membership receiving one vote. Nominations may be made from the floor at the meeting or submitted in writing to the Secretary at least one month in advance. You can even nominate yourself!
More Ways to Help
Our committees are where much of the day-to-day work happens, and all members are welcome to get involved. Whether you have experience to share or are simply willing to learn, there’s a place for you.
You don’t need to be a lake expert to make a difference.
