Board of Directors Meeting Minutes — June 1, 2026

Year:

At its June 1, 2026 board meeting, the Pelican Lake Association approved raising annual dues from $25 to $30 — the first increase in over 20 years — adopted amended 2026 and 2027 budgets after the Finance Committee corrected an accounting discrepancy, and heard committee updates ahead of the June 6 Annual Meeting.

The Treasurer’s report noted that the Finance Committee, working independently of the board, had found a discrepancy between the Annual Newsletter’s figures and the accounts themselves, traced to double entries and reporting errors; the accounts have since been corrected with outside help. The board agreed to move to at least quarterly Finance Committee meetings to catch this kind of issue sooner, and discussed dividing the Treasurer’s accounts-payable, accounts-receivable, and data-entry duties so one person isn’t carrying all three. The amended 2026 budget and the 2027 budget were both approved for presentation to the membership, alongside the dues increase.

Committee reports covered a request for proposals for 2026 weed harvesting, with Aquatic Plant Management the sole respondent and returning contractor; continued work on the buffer zone and split-rail fence at the Schoepke Town Hall site; plans to retire and potentially sell or raffle 20 buoys; and a $4,000 buoy donation along with a combined $20,000 in donations and a blind raffle toward the buoy fund. The board also discussed how to share the membership-funded lake survey data, with a committee led by Alex Rossman to look into it, and considered a free-use life-jacket program pending a liability review. The Annual Meeting was set for June 6, with Nick Johnson of Aquatic Plant Management as guest speaker, and an Adopt-a-Highway cleanup scheduled for June 13.
