Board of Directors Meeting Minutes — February 9, 2026

Year:

At its February 9, 2026 board meeting, the Pelican Lake Association reported record Winterfest fundraising results, reviewed the first results from the new lake mapping survey, and began work on a dues proposal to fund the buoy program.

The Treasurer reported year-end 2025 equity of $137,824 and current equity of roughly $150,000, with the association in a good financial position thanks largely to the Fundraising Committee’s work. A certificate of deposit was cashed to help cover the lake mapping project; the final $3,000 payment is on hold pending resolution of an anomaly in the delivered maps. Winterfest brought in $13,753 gross and $11,167 net — more than double the prior year — with every raffle ticket sold, and a replacement performer stepping in after the scheduled band cancelled.

The new lake mapping survey showed 40% vegetation coverage lake-wide. An anomaly near Chicago Point was reported to the vendor, who attributed it to a scanning issue and will rescan after ice-out. A mapping subcommittee is forming to determine how the data should be used, shared, and protected, whether the DNR has an interest in it, and whether identified hazard locations match current buoy placements. Results will be presented at the Annual Meeting. Water Quality also reported grant funding of $4,972 from the DNR for the Lake Management Plan, $6,000 for Clean Boats/Clean Waters, and $2,500 received through the county, with a further $3,500 in federal funds pending.

Boating Safety reported annual buoy installation, removal, and maintenance costs of roughly $8,000, and prepared a proposal to raise dues to help cover them — a change that would go to a membership vote. A memorial donation from a member’s estate was applied toward the matching donation for the buoy fund. Fish and Wildlife noted new DNR fishing regulations for Pelican Lake taking effect April 1, 2026, including an aggregate ten-fish panfish limit and revised bass size limits, with updated signs to be posted at the landings. The board also continued work with Nicolet College on website and communications processes, with a subcommittee to be formed to define what content the website carries going forward.
