The Sokaogon Chippewa Community has awarded the Pelican Lake Association $2,500 in continued support of the 2026 Clean Boats Clean Waters program. The award was presented at the Community’s annual award presentation on 25 January 2026.
The Community contributed $4,500 toward Clean Boats Clean Waters expenses during 2025 and a further $2,500 toward aquatic invasive species management. Those funds sit alongside the Wisconsin DNR’s Clean Boats Clean Waters grant, which provided $8,000 in 2025 and offsets the cost of the association’s paid boat landing monitors.
Support of this kind is what allows the association to meet the goals in its Comprehensive Lake Management Plan — lake mapping, invasive species management and fisheries work — without drawing down long-term savings.
